"I don't. It's just how life tends to deal things out to the good ones," Altair said, as he sat back. "There's a saying that goes 'Bad things happen to good guys' but I always hated hearing it." Altair looked at where Maua had come from, not seeing anything in the distance of anyone having followed her. His sense of smell couldn't catch a whiff of anyone else either.

She looked in the same direction she had come. "They must have stopped chasing me a while ago." She whispered, her submissiveness still her main concern. She didn't know this Tigeronda, but she could sense he was good in a way and handsome to boot.

Altair glanced at her before turning around. "Well, I don't know how to help you or whatever," he said. "I'm sure you'll be okay." He moved forward slightly before muttering, "I know I haven't been." His tail swished gently, showing a slight burn mark on the underside though it wasn't as fresh. It looked to be at least a few months old.

Maua winced a bit. "Why don't you travel with someone?" She asked softly. She looked at her paws shuffling them in the dirt.

Altair looked back at her, blinking in somewhat surprise. "What do you mean? Cuz...I travel alone as a way to keep distant from others. Wouldn't want other Tigerondas or Tigerobras getting close to me," he replied simply. He glanced at his tail, tucking it behind him so the scars of the burn couldn't be seen.

"Why? Your not bad." She said softly looking at him, slowly crawling over to him. She knew that she had to be careful because she was in heat and she knew how males could get.

Altair looked at her, slowly pulling away. "Uh...you don't know that, Leoparonda," he said. "And you don't have to stay so low... It's not like I'm royalty or some guard." He watched her closely though, not sure what to expect from her.

She flinched a bit. "I'm sorry it is custom in my used to be home to get low to males, especially when us females are in heat." she said blushing deeply. "It's a custom I'll never get rid of." she whispered.

"In heat?" Altair asked, suddenly noticing the sweet scent that was rolling off of her. The thought of any male going after a female in such a manner was horrible to him. "No female should be treated as a low being. Their honor should be held to the highest bouts." Altair's hood puffed up in a small flash of anger.

Altair looked down at the Leoparonda, realizing he didn't know her name. "Leoparonda, what is your name?" he asked, trying to sound gentle. He knew his voice wasn't equipped to sound gentle but he tried.

She looked up at him. "I'm Maua." She said softly, watching him slowly. She liked the way his face looked, and his colors were good looking as well.

"My name is Altair," he replied gently. He wasn't sure any of his training from before would work with Leoparonda but he lowered himself to the ground too, almost like he was laying down but he kept space between him and the ground. "Would you like something to eat?" Altair asked her.

Altair got up and sniffed around for any kind of prey. Though he was larger than most Tigeronda, he didn't think catching a deer would be helpful. It was better to start off with something small, like squirrels and birds. Altair caught whiff of some of each nearby. "Don't worry, I'll be back but just stay here, okay?" he asked her.
