Not far from the border, mewling from two newborn Jaguarobra cubs can be heard. They are scared, hungry and not aware their mother is dead. They are slowly starving to death.
A guard is walking along the border with his male companion, since two guards patrol one way and two the other direction so that they can cover more ground. He sniffs the air, having caught fresh scent of the bear a bit ago and had followed it, since it was still lingering.

having been out of the den for awhile Igi decided to head out and noticed the said guards out sniffing about, Igi gets down and lurk up close for inspection

Ryonis was asleep in his den with his mate when he heard the faint mewling nearby. He lifted his head and nudged his still sleeping mate gently. "Hey, I'll be right back." He told him when he saw his eyes open briefly and licked his cheek quickly before he left to find the source of the mewing.
Raia was walking alone along the border, coming close to being able to hear the mewling cubs but not quite there yet. She was following an interesting scent that she had found earlier.

Hollow had decided to go out for a hunt so that he could stretch his legs.
Halos nodded and closed his eyes again to go back to sleep.

Ryonis followed the little mewls of the starving Jaguarobra to the border. He didn't see the small things at first as they were hidden in a tall patch of grass but as soon as he brushed the grass aside, he could see their small bodies clearly.
Raia could tell she was getting closer to the end of the scent trail she grinned to herself in anticipation to see what the scent belonged to.

Hollow slowly crawled toward the deer so that he could catch it.
Halos snored lightly.

Ryonis narrowed his eyes at the small cubs before he looked around, hoping to spot their parents or someone to claim them. He didn't see anyone and turned his gaze back to the cubs. "What are you doing out here alone?" He wondered aloud.
Raia grinned to herself as she spotted another Pire. Perhaps he was the one who carried the interesting scent. She could see that the Pire was about to hunt a deer but as he went to spring forward at the deer, she sprang forward too and knocked him over and lay atop of him. She leaned down to take a whiff of him and she smirked. "Did you know you smell funny?" She said to him as her greeting, not really caring that she had interfered in his hunt and he would probably be angry.

Halos slowly stretched as he woke, looking around to see his mate hadn't returned yet.
Hollpw looked up at the female. "And do you know I don't care." He said pushing her off and getting up.

Ryonis wondered what to do. He could just leave the cubs and hope that someone came to claim them, or he could take them back to his den. But they looked hungry and they didn't seem old enough to be on meat yet. In fact they looked like newborns! He wouldn't be able to feed newborns. Neither him nor his mate could provide any milk for them.
Raia huffed with a small pout as she got up to. "I never said you cared, I was just pointing it out." She said, annoyed that he had pushed her.

Halos sighed softly as he began to lick himself softly, his skin sensitive.
Hollow looked at her. "I suppose all High Kings smell like me." He grunted.

Ryonis sighed. "Why do I even care?" He asked himself. It wasn't like they were even Pires. They were another species. Plus there was nothing he could really do for them anyway. With another sigh, he turned away to go back to his den. His mate was probably wondering where he was. Just a little ways a way he spotted a few guards and quickly informed them of the cubs. They could probably do more than he could.
Raia tilted her head and came to a realization. "Oh.... You're the High King! Duh." She laughed to herself at being so dumb. "I knew you looked familiar."
